Danish French bread

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 ½ dl water
  • 1 ½ dl milk
  • 20 g margarine
  • 50 g yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 500 g flour, white
  • 1 egg(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Heat the water and milk in a saucepan until lukewarm, then dissolve the yeast in it. Sift the flour into a bowl and add the sugar and salt. Add the margarine to the yeast mixture, then pour everything into the flour and mix well (only with a wooden spoon!!!). Then knead vigorously on a floured surface; otherwise, the dough won’t hold up! (That’s the secret to success!) Then shape it into a loaf of bread, roll, or croissant, brush with egg, and bake in the oven at 200°C (400°F) in the center for 25-30 minutes. Rolls take less time!
