Date balsamic reduction

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 ml balsamic vinegar, red (doesn’t have to be expensive)
  • 500 ml red wine, dry
  • 200 g dates, soft dried, pitted
  • 200 g honey, mild

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 20 minutes

Delicious with tomato mozzarella, fruity salads and cheese; also as a garnish on the edge of the plate

Chop the dates into small pieces, add them to a saucepan with the remaining ingredients, and bring to a boil. Continue simmering over low heat until only 1/3 of the original amount remains. This may take up to 2 hours. Stir occasionally. At the end of the cooking time, strain the liquid through a fine sieve and press down firmly with a spoon. Pour the liquid into attractive bottles. The balsamic reduction will thicken even more over time, making it perfect for decorating. If it gets too thick, simply add a little red balsamic vinegar and shake vigorously.
