Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes
the counterpart to Death by Chocolate pudding – wonderfully creamy and wonderfully vanilla
Split open the vanilla pod and scrape out the seeds. Place the pod and seeds in a (cold-rinsed) saucepan with the sugar, salt, cream, and 200 ml of water. Heat thoroughly and let steep for about 15 minutes. Fish out the vanilla pod (rinse thoroughly under lukewarm water and dry – it can also be used to make vanilla sugar). Mix/shake the remaining water with the cornstarch until there are no lumps. Then add it to the saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until the cornstarch thickens. Remove from the heat, let cool briefly, and enjoy. Serve with chocolate sauce and bananas. Tip 1: To make pudding in the microwave, place the ingredients in a microwave-safe container rinsed with cold water and heat for 2 minutes at 600 watts. Then add the mixed cornstarch, stir thoroughly, and bring to a boil uncovered for 3 x 2 minutes, stirring continuously during the breaks to ensure the cornstarch is evenly distributed. Tip 2: You can also use half a teaspoon of vanilla powder (ground vanilla, available in organic supermarkets) instead of the vanilla pod. Let it steep before bringing to a boil. Tip 3: If you want the pudding to be easy to turn out, reduce the amount of liquid by 50 ml.
