Delicious, sweet steamed dumplings

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 20 g yeast or 1 packet of dry yeast
  • ⅛ liter milk, lukewarm
  • 80 g sugar
  • 100 g butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 100 g butter
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • ¼ liter of water

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

First, sift the flour into a bowl, crumble the yeast over it, and then add the remaining ingredients, except for the last three. Mix everything with a dough hook until it forms a firm dough that pulls away from the bowl. Then, cover the bowl and place it in a warm place (I always preheat the oven to around 50°C, turn it off, and then place the dough bowl in) for about half an hour, until the dough has doubled in size. Then, sprinkle some flour over the dough and, ideally, put some on your hands as well. Knead the dough well again. Using a tablespoon, scoop out pieces of the dough and then form the dumplings. Melt the butter in a deep pan or shallow pot, then sprinkle in the sugar and wait a moment. Place the dumplings next to each other in the pot and pour in the water from the side (so that it is about one centimeter high). Then put the lid on. Turn the heat down to medium, and after about 12 minutes, the dumplings are ready. Be sure not to remove the lid beforehand, otherwise the steamed dumplings will collapse! They taste great with some vanilla sauce, store-bought or homemade.
