Dishwasher Won’t Stop Draining – You Can Do That

The dishwasher won’t stop draining – that’s the reason

In dishwashers, the draining process is regulated by a sensor.

  • This works like a swimmer, which uses its position to determine whether there is water in the floor pan. If water is detected there, the pumping process is triggered.
  • If the standing water does not drain properly, the sensor receives the information to pump out and therefore runs constantly.
  • To solve the problem, the water must be removed. Various components are then cleaned to restore the drainage of the water.

So the swimmer is free again

First, you have to remove the floor pan. Disconnect the device from the power supply before performing the following steps.

  1. Pull out the floor pan on the dishwasher towards the front. Check the user manual. Some units require you to loosen screws on the tray to remove them. You may also need to remove the front panel first.
  2. Dispose of the remaining water from the base pan.
  3. Then check the filters, the wastewater hose including the connection, and the pump sump for blockages or damage such as cracks.
  4. Clean all parts. Especially the screens and the pump sump.
  5. Reinstall the tub and run another rinse.
  6. If this does not solve the problem, the electronic control may be defective. In this case, ask a professional for advice.
