Dried Fruit – Nut – Bread
The perfect dried fruit – nut – bread recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
*** TOP ***
- 1 Cup Milk
- 0,25 Cup Oil
- 0,25 Cup Sugar
- 1 packet Yeast granules
- 0,5 tsp Baking powder
- Orange jam
- Brown sugar
- Salt
- Roughly chopped dried fruit
- Different nuts
- Pour the milk into a large saucepan, place on the stove and turn the plate on to the highest level. Now add the oil and stir in the sugar. Let the mixture get very hot, but under no circumstances let it boil!
- Remove the pot from the plate and let it cool down until you can put your finger into the milk mixture. Now sprinkle in the yeast and mix.
- Stir in about 250 grams of the flour. Now add the remaining flour and baking powder and stir thoroughly.
- Cover the pot with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise for about 1 hour. Meanwhile, grease a loaf pan well with butter.
- Sooooo …. now the “fiddling” starts: Roll out the dough on a floured work surface into a rectangle and brush generously with the orange jam.
- Now cut the dough into 5 or 6 strips. Sprinkle with brown sugar, salt, chopped dried fruit and nuts. Carefully stack the strips on top of each other. (A lot of fiddling because the dough sticks to the work surface in places …. it stretches when you lift it ….. and makes some of the topping itself …)
- After the stacking is over, cut the stack again into 5 or 6 pieces.
- The fiddling goes on …. Now place the pieces VERTICAL in the loaf pan (not that easy at all …) Cover the pan again with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise again for 30 minutes. (Now the hardest part is behind us – while waiting I recovered from the exertion with a cigarette and a cup of coffee).
- Preheat the oven to 180 ° C.
- Put the baking pan in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes.
