simply

Cream the butter or margarine until smooth, then gradually add the eggs and salt. Mix the flour with the baking powder, sift, and stir in alternately with the milk until a smooth batter forms. Then, using a tablespoon dipped in hot water, scoop out dumplings, place them in boiling salted water, and let them simmer until cooked through (the water should be stirring slightly). Toast the breadcrumbs in butter and serve the dumplings with it, or sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon to taste. Accompany with dried fruit or meat. The dumplings can also be served with various types of compote, such as plums, cherries, and apples seasoned with cloves and cinnamon.
