Eating avocado seeds – the right preparation
You can eat the pit of the avocado in small amounts. In terms of taste, however, you should not expect miracles. In addition to a nutty note, the kernel also has a slightly bitter note and should be used sparingly in food.
- Once you have removed the stone from the avocado, first remove the brown skin. This works wonderfully with a small, sharp knife. If the shell is too tight, you can first soak the core in water for a while.
- The core is most commonly eaten in grated form. Use a kitchen grater and grate the core into pieces that are as fine as possible.
- Then you have to dry the rasps for a while. This can easily be done in the air and takes about one to three days. If you want, you can also toast the grated core in a pan.
- Put the finished rasps on a salad or muesli, for example. Take a small amount first and taste it. If you add too much of the avocado seed to the food, it can quickly taste bitter.
