Why hummus is healthy

Hummus is mainly made from chickpeas. Together with some spices and a few other ingredients, a delicious cream is created.

  • Chickpeas are an excellent source of protein and they contain a lot of fiber. These ensure that you are full.
  • If you have digestive issues, legumes may be just the ticket. How good that the chickpea is exactly such.
  • Folic acid and vitamin C are just two of the many nutrients that chickpea brings with it. Vitamin C not only strengthens your immune system, but also the connective tissue.
  • In addition to chickpeas, hummus also consists of garlic. We have already reported on the health effects of this miracle tuber in another article.
  • The lemon juice in hummus detoxifies your body. The fruit also contains a lot of vitamin C and has an anti-inflammatory effect.
  • The sesame butter and olive oil also provide high-quality fat, which is good for the body.

The basic recipe for hummus

Making the hummus is really anything but difficult. All you need is a decent blender and you’re good to go.

  • For a sufficient amount, you need 250g chickpeas, 8 tablespoons olive oil, 3 cloves of garlic, 4 tablespoons sesame paste, and 4 tablespoons lemon juice.
  • You can decide for yourself how you want to season the paste. We recommend a combination of salt, cayenne pepper, and some paprika powder.
  • First, you need to soak the chickpeas the night before. In our next article, we will show you how to do this correctly for chickpeas.
  • After about 12 hours of soaking, cook the chickpeas. The legumes should then be soft.
  • Now just put all the ingredients in your blender and mix everything together. Of course, you can decide the consistency for yourself.
  • Then don’t forget to taste and the hummus is ready.
