Eichkatzerl's applesauce waffles

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 50 g butter, soft
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 80 g applesauce
  • 250 g flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 250 ml buttermilk

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

with buttermilk, low-fat

Cream the butter, sugar, cinnamon sugar, salt, and eggs until light and fluffy (almost white!). Stir in the applesauce. Mix the flour with the baking powder and stir into the applesauce mixture (don’t overmix, or the waffles will be tough!). Gradually add the buttermilk until a creamy, smooth batter forms. Heat up a waffle iron and bake everything in batches until evenly browned. I can’t give you an exact baking time, as it varies from waffle iron to waffle iron. I get 7 waffles from the batter! Warning: The waffles are fluffy and soft! They won’t be crispy due to the buttermilk content!
