Fake fried potatoes – Fried kohlrabi

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 kohlrabi
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 2 tbsp smoked ham
  • 1 handful of parsley
  • salt and pepper
  • Cayenne pepper
  • oregano
  • turmeric
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 shot of water

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Low carb, vegetarian possible

Peel the kohlrabi and grate it into thin pieces/slices. Peel the onion and slice it into rings. Heat the oil and fry the onion until translucent. Mix the kohlrabi with 1 tablespoon of oil, oregano, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper. Add the kohlrabi to the onions and reduce the heat. Add the parsley, ham, and turmeric and continue frying. If the kohlrabi is too hard, add a little water and let it simmer. For a vegetarian version, replace the ham with vegetarian bacon cubes, or fry without the ham altogether.
