Fake marzipan cake

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 4 eggs
  • 300 g flour
  • 250 g sugar
  • 50 g cocoa powder
  • ¼ liter sour cream
  • 1 pack of baking soda
  • 250 g butter
  • 250 g powdered sugar
  • 250 g semolina, fine
  • 250 g butter
  • 2 small bottles of bitter almond flavoring
  • 2 cups cake icing (chocolate icing)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Combine the ingredients for the base in a bowl and mix well. Spread the batter onto a lightly greased baking sheet and bake at 180°C for approximately 45–60 minutes. For the topping, combine the softened butter with the powdered sugar, semolina, and bitter almond extract. Spread the mixture onto the baked, still slightly warm base with a hot knife and cover with chocolate glaze. I got the recipe from a friend from the former GDR. There, they called the mixture “fake marzipan,” hence the name of the cake. It’s quite rich but also very delicious.
