Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 500 g chickpeas, dried, not from the can
  • Water for soaking
  • 1 onion(s)
  • ½ bulb(s) garlic
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp caraway powder
  • ¾ tsp paprika powder, hot
  • 1 tsp peppermint, dried
  • some chili powder
  • ½ bag(s) of baking powder
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • n. B. Oil (sunflower or rapeseed oil) for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Total time approx. 12 hours 30 minutes

for beginners

Soak the chickpeas in plenty of water overnight (about 12 hours). Drain the water the next day and chop them in a food processor along with the onion and garlic until finely ground. Now mix the remaining ingredients (except the oil, of course) well with the batter. Form the batter into small patties (about 4-5 cm in diameter and 1 cm thick). If you have a falafel maker, you can of course use it to form the falafel. Now add them to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy. Serve with garlic sauce, aioli, or tahini for dipping.
