Feta cheese baked in honey

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 packs of sheep’s cheese (200 g each)
  • 1 onion(s), red
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 4 sprigs of thyme
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Peel the onion and garlic. Slice the onion into thin rings and finely chop the garlic. Heat the olive oil in a small saucepan, add the garlic and honey. Heat the mixture until it is relatively liquid. Spread half of the mixture in a baking dish and arrange the feta cheese side by side on top. Pour the other half of the mixture over the cheese. Top with onion rings and thyme sprigs and season with pepper. Bake the cheese in a preheated oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for about 10 minutes, until the surface is lightly browned. The baked feta cheese goes perfectly with tabbouleh, saffron rice, garlic bread, and/or baked vine tomatoes or baked vegetables.
