old family tradition
Heat the butter until liquid, but do not boil; let it cool slightly. Meanwhile, beat the egg yolks, vanilla sugar, salt, and sugar until fluffy. Slowly add the melted butter to the egg mixture. Sift the flour into the butter mixture and knead everything into a smooth dough. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for 24 hours or until ready to use. Grease a baking sheet with margarine. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 3-5 mm, cut out using various shapes, brush with egg, and sprinkle with colorful sprinkles. Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F). Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the cookies are golden yellow. You can also refine the dough with a tiny splash of cherry brandy. My mother also used this dough as a shortcrust pastry for sour fruits.
