Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 225 g oat flakes, fine
  • 85 g cane sugar or brown sugar
  • 150 g butter
  • 20 g syrup (caramel syrup)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Very sweet and crispy English tea biscuits

Mix the oats with the brown sugar. Melt the butter in a saucepan and pour it over the oats along with the syrup. Mix everything well and press it down onto a greased baking sheet with very wet fingers. Bake in a preheated oven at approx. 160°C on the middle rack for approx. 15 minutes until light brown. Be careful not to overcook them, otherwise they will taste too bitter. The baked dough will still be soft when it comes out of the oven; it will only reach the desired firmness after cooling briefly. Cut into pieces about 4 x 4 cm while still warm. Allow to cool and, if possible, store in a cool place or in the refrigerator. Because they are nice and crispy, the cookies are perfect with tea or coffee.
