Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 175 g margarine
  • 175 g brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp beet syrup, e.g. Grafschafter
  • 225 g oat flakes, wholegrain, not instant
  • Fat, for the shape

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

English crispy oatcakes

Melt the margarine, sugar, and syrup in a saucepan. Remove from the heat and stir in the oats evenly. Pour the mixture into a greased baking pan (approx. 18 x 28 cm) and spread evenly. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C for about 20-30 minutes. Carefully cut (rectangles are recommended) and let cool; they will set. They’ll keep well if tightly sealed.
