Beetroot is not only available in a jar, but also as a fresh vegetable. If you freeze it, you can have it all year round. In this home tip, we will show you what you should bear in mind.
Freeze beetroot – that’s how it works
If you bought the beetroot fresh, it will keep in the fridge for about two to four weeks. If you freeze the vegetables, they will keep for a year.
- First, steam the beets in boiling water for about 20 minutes.
- Then peel the tubers. It is best to wear gloves when doing this, as beetroot stains very strongly.
- Now cut the beetroot into small pieces and fill them in a fresh storage box or freezer bag. This way you can simply defrost the tubers later and prepare them straight away.
