Freeze Peppers – You Should Pay Attention to That

If you have harvested or bought too many peppers, you can freeze and thaw them in good condition at any time. We will show you what needs to be considered.

Tips & Tricks: Freeze peppers properly

First, you should wash the peppers thoroughly and remove the seeds inside. Then cut the peppers to the desired size. It is not necessary to peel the peppers. This only destroys the cell structure even more.

  • If possible, the pepper pieces to be frozen should not be overly moist. If necessary, dry the pieces again.
  • They will then keep in the freezer for several months. Use freezer bags or suitable containers for this.
  • Due to the high water content, the peppers noticeably lose their bite after defrosting. It is therefore no longer quite as suitable for raw consumption. However, you usually won’t notice the difference when cooked.
  • Tip: If you don’t want to freeze the peppers for too long, you can also fill them directly. If required, the stuffed peppers can then be straight from the freezer into the oven.
