Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 2 eggs
  • 120 ml milk
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 4 slices of toast or white bread
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • n. B. Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Canadian style

Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F) fan/convection oven. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Whisk together the first five ingredients, except for the bread and butter. Dip the bread slices in the egg mixture and turn over. Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat. Fry the bread slices for about 1-2 minutes on each side until they are golden brown. Then place the bread slices on the baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 8 minutes. The slices will puff up and become wonderfully fluffy. Serve with maple syrup or other treats of your choice. Tip: If you like, you can melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a small pan and fry the banana slices for about three minutes. Remove the bananas and, in the same pan, bring 50 ml of maple syrup, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of honey to a boil over medium heat. Simmer for two minutes. Add the bananas and simmer for another minute. Then pour over the French toast and serve sprinkled with pecans.
