French toast roll with strawberries

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 slices of toast
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp, heaped cinnamon powder
  • 300 g strawberries
  • e.g. cream cheese or Nutella
  • Butter for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 4 minutes; Total time approx. 24 minutes

First, wash the strawberries, drain them, and cut them into small pieces. Optionally, sprinkle the strawberries with sugar again and let them sit for a short while. Now cut the crust off each slice of toast and flatten the slices with a rolling pin. Place about 1-2 teaspoons of Nutella or cream cheese on the end of each slice and scatter a few strawberry pieces on top. Roll the toast slices into a tight roll. Tip: Place the rolls seam-down to prevent them from rising. In a shallow dish, whisk the eggs and milk until well blended. In a shallow dish, mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and melt a tablespoon of butter. Dip each bread roll into the egg mixture to coat it well and place it seam-down in the pan. Fry the rolls until golden brown (about 2 minutes per side). Place the baked rolls directly from the pan in the cinnamon and sugar and roll them until everything is covered.
