Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 10 m.-sized potatoes, cut into thin slices
  • 1 medium-sized onion(s), cut into small pieces
  • 1 pack of bacon, diced
  • lots of oil for frying
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Caraway seeds

Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly. Chop the onion into small pieces. Fry the bacon cubes in a pan, then add the oil and heat. Add the potato slices and fry them all over. Add the onion cubes. Add more oil as needed, turning the potatoes every 2-3 minutes. The whole thing should roast for about 20-30 minutes, depending on the thickness of the slices. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, and caraway (optional). Serve hot. I always test for doneness with a fork or spatula. If the potatoes are easy to pierce, they’re done. If I’m unsure, I just taste one.
