Fried turnip slices

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 160 g turnip(s), peeled, quartered
  • 1 tsp rapeseed oil
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • some spiced salt, Ayurvedic
  • possibly thyme, fresh, alternatively mint or parsley

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Side dish or snack, vegetarian

Cut the turnip into approximately 5mm thick slices. Heat a non-stick pan. Add the oil and maple syrup and toss to coat. Fry the turnip slices over medium heat for 5 minutes on one side until light brown, then flip and cook for another 3-5 minutes on the other side. Test with a wooden spatula/turner to see if the turnip slices are already tender (like fried potatoes). Sprinkle with Ayurvedic seasoning salt and, if desired, thyme, and serve. Goes great with fried mushrooms, and for non-vegetarians, with any kind of pan-fried fish or meat.
