Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 red cabbage (blue cabbage)
- 1 onion(s), diced
- 1 garlic clove(s), chopped
- 1 tbsp oil or clarified butter
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 125 ml red wine
- 1 tsp spice mix (game spice)
- little broth
- 125 ml apple juice
- salt and pepper
- ½ jar cranberries or currant or cranberry jam

That’s how my grandma cooked it
Clean the red cabbage and slice it into strips using a cucumber slicer. Fry the onion and garlic in hot oil or clarified butter. Add the sugar and let it caramelize (not too dark). Add the red wine and stir. Now add the red cabbage and mix until it shines. Pour in the stock and apple juice and combine everything. Note: Mix everything until it is slightly runny, but not too liquid – this will vary depending on the amount of cabbage. The values given are only approximate. If desired, you can also add a diced apple. Now add the game spice and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 20 minutes, until softened. Season again with salt and pepper, if desired. Finally, add the cranberries or red jam.
