Frying Ground Beef Properly: Tips For The Stove and The Microwave

Fry the ground beef properly in the pan

To sear ground beef properly, you should take it out of the fridge an hour beforehand. You probably prepare your minced meat most often on the stove.

  1. Put some cooking spray or oil in your chosen pan. Make sure the pan is large enough for the amount of minced meat.
  2. Heat the pan. To do this, set the middle level of the plate. Test with a few drops of water if the fat is hot enough. If the water evaporates again immediately, you can add the meat.
  3. Add all the meat and let it sear for three minutes. It should be nice and brown on the bottom afterward. If it doesn’t brown, increase the heat.
  4. When the ends are crispy, turn the meat over. The less you stir, the crispier it will be.
  5. Now cut the meat into smaller pieces. Use a spoon or spatula to do this.
  6. Salt the meat. Keep turning the ground beef until all the pieces are brown. There should no longer be any pink coloration. Make sure that all meat parts are well-done.
  7. Put the meat in a sieve and catch the fat in a saucepan. Once it has cooled down, you can dispose of it in the residual waste.
  8. Use the meat further according to the chosen recipe.

Fry the ground beef in the microwave

Alternatively, you can fry the ground beef in the microwave. Use a microwave-safe container, such as a glass or ceramic bowl.

  • Put the meat in. Flatten it completely with a spoon.
  • Cover the bowl with a lid. Alternatively, you can place microwave wrap over it and stick it on. Poke some holes in here.
  • Turn the heat down to medium and cook the ground beef for five minutes.
  • Remove bowl and remove lid or foil. Using a spoon, break up all the ground beef into small pieces. After that, stir vigorously once and salt the meat. The pink parts should now be facing outwards, the brown parts should be facing in the middle.
  • Flatten the meat again. The lid or a new film is placed over it again, not forgetting the holes.
  • Place the bowl in the microwave and cook for another 2 minutes over medium-high heat. Then set the highest level for three minutes.
  • Remove the bowl and stir the meat. If you are satisfied with the result, you can continue to use the meat depending on the recipe. Otherwise, repeat the last step.
  • With this method, too, put the meat in a sieve and catch the fat in a saucepan. Once it has cooled down, you can dispose of it in the residual waste.
