Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes
Remove the puff pastry roll from the packaging, unroll it, and let it rest at room temperature for a few minutes. Using a smooth knife, spread the cream cheese thinly on one half of the pastry sheet (you may need less than the recipe calls for). Then evenly distribute the finely diced salami, ham, and olives on top. Fold the unfilled pastry half onto the coated pastry sheet. Beat an egg and brush the top of the pastry sheet evenly with it. Then sprinkle the pastry sheet evenly with the seeds. To create a beautiful appearance, I always sprinkle rows of one type of seed: pumpkin seeds on the right and left, followed by a row of mixed seeds, and then cumin. Poppy seeds and finely crumbled fried onions are scattered over everything. The latter add a first-class flavor! Cut the pastry sheet into approximately 1.5 cm wide strips. This makes 12 strips per roll of puff pastry. Carefully pick up the strips and twist them several times. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and sprinkle the parts of the sticks not covered with seeds lightly with grated cheese. The cheese won’t stick completely, and some will fall onto the parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (convection oven) for 15-20 minutes. Depending on your oven, you may need to reduce the temperature to 180°C (350°F) toward the end. These sticks are great for children’s parties, in lunch boxes, on hikes, or with a cozy glass of wine. They’re also always gone quickly at buffets, and they’re often asked to be brought as a gift instead of flowers to friends’ parties.
