Garlic-sage bread

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 225 g flour (whole wheat flour)
  • 1 packet of yeast (dry yeast)
  • 3 tbsp sage, chopped
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 150 ml water, lukewarm

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 30 minutes

great with soups and salads

Grease a baking sheet. Sift flour into a large bowl. Stir in the yeast, sage, and half the salt. Reserve 1 teaspoon of the garlic for sprinkling. Add the rest to the bowl. Add the honey and water and knead the dough. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes. Place the dough in a greased bowl and let it rise in a warm place for 1.5 hours, until it has doubled in size. Knead the dough again, shape it into a ring, and place it on the baking sheet. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes. Sprinkle with the remaining salt and garlic. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 25-30 minutes. Let cool.
