Party cake for the World Cup or simply a delicious currant cake
Beat the eggs and sugar until frothy. Gradually stir in the oil, orange juice, flour, and baking powder. Halve the batter and mix the cocoa powder into one half. Pour into a greased 26 cm springform pan. Pre-bake for 15 minutes at 180°C. Strip the currants from the stalks and carefully mix them into the remaining white batter. Spread over the pre-baked dark batter. Bake for a further 30-40 minutes at 180°C. Tip: Test with a skewer whether the batter is cooked. The baking time also depends on the size of the springform pan. Because the batter is quite runny, the currants settle in the white batter and form the red layer between the dark and light batter. When turned out, it creates the colors black, red, and gold.
