Ginger-lime lemonade

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 piece(s) ginger root, fresh, peeled, approx. 4 cm
  • 250 g sugar
  • 6 limes
  • 1 bunch of basil

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Simple and delicious

Finely chop the ginger and roughly grind it in a mortar and pestle. Stir it into a saucepan with 1 to 1.5 liters of water, bring the ginger broth to a boil and simmer for a few minutes. If you don’t want the ginger pieces in the lemonade, let the broth cool for a few minutes and then pour it through a sieve lined with a kitchen towel. Collect the liquid. In another small saucepan, dissolve the sugar in 500 ml of water over low heat and then add this to the ginger broth. In the meantime, squeeze the limes and finely chop the basil. Add the lime juice and basil to the sweet ginger broth. Allow to cool completely. If you like it a little more tangy, start with just 1 liter of water and top up the lemonade with 0.5 liters of mineral water at the end.
