Gingerbread house or gingerbread tree decorations

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 300 g honey
  • 300 g beet syrup
  • 150 g butter
  • 1 kg flour
  • 2 tsp gingerbread spice
  • 1 tbsp cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp water, lukewarm
  • ½ tsp ammonium bicarbonate
  • ½ tsp potash

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

the recipe is enough for a larger house or 20-30 followers

Heat the honey, syrup, and butter. Mix the gingerbread spice, flour, and cocoa powder. Add the cooled honey mixture, eggs, the potash dissolved in the water, and the ammonium hydroxide, and knead. Cut out the desired shapes and place them, spacing them apart, on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (top/bottom heat) or 150°C (fan oven) for 15 minutes. I cut out the house pieces before baking. There are also recipes that call for baking sheets of dough first, from which the corresponding shapes are cut after baking. For tree decorations, pre-drill large holes with a chopstick for hanging, as they shrink slightly during baking. This amount is enough for one larger gingerbread house with a base, or for two smaller houses, or even for 20-30 gingerbread cookies as tree decorations.
