Glazed chestnuts

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Add 300 g chestnuts, thawed and frozen
  • 1 dl vegetable broth, hot
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Bring the sugar and water to a boil in a stainless steel pan without stirring. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until a light brown caramel forms. Set the pan aside immediately. Add the chestnuts and briefly toss them in the caramelized sugar. Deglaze with the vegetable stock. Cover and simmer over low heat until the sugar has dissolved and the liquid is honey-like. Finally, add the butter or margarine and toss the chestnuts in it. Serve as a side dish with game.
