Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg white cabbage
  • 100 g butter
  • 2 tsp sage, dried
  • 1 tsp vegetable broth (powder)
  • Oil, for the casserole dish
  • 1 tsp salt
  • nutmeg
  • pepper
  • 150 ml cream
  • 150 g cheese (Emmental), grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Remove the outer leaves and stalk from the white cabbage, cut into eighths, and cut into wide strips. Melt the butter in a large saucepan and add the sage and the cabbage strips. Add the vegetable stock and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Grease a large casserole dish. Add the braised white cabbage to the dish. Season with herb salt, a little nutmeg, and pepper. Mix the cream with the grated Emmental cheese and pour over the vegetables. Bake at 200°C for 10 minutes. Serve with meatballs and potatoes. It also serves as a vegetarian main course for two people.
