Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Total time approx. 12 hours 30 minutes
according to an original American recipe
Mix all the ingredients together. Stir well and add 1 cup of hot water and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Pour the batter into a greased pan and bake the cake at 180-190°C for approx. 40-50 minutes (You may need to test for doneness). For the syrup, heat the water, honey, and sugar until everything has dissolved. For the frosting (the coating), mix the sugar, vanilla, syrup, cocoa powder, and butter and bring to a boil in a small saucepan. Pierce the cake frequently with a skewer so that the frosting can absorb into the cake. Then pour the frosting over the still warm cake. Finally, add the chocolate sprinkles. Tip: The cake tastes best when it has sat for at least half a day.
