Grandpa's style lentil soup with black pudding

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 2 ½ liters of water
  • 500 g lentils
  • 750 g pork from the head or belly
  • 4 m.-sized potatoes
  • 2 large carrots
  • 200 g celery
  • 1 tbsp vegetable broth powder
  • 300 g smoked black pudding
  • Salt
  • some sugar
  • some vinegar

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 13 hours 25 minutes

Soak the lentils for 12 hours before cooking. Boil the lentils in water for about 30 minutes, then add the diced pork head/pork belly and cook for another 15 minutes. Wash, peel, and dice the potatoes, celery, and carrots, and cook separately until soft, then add them to the lentils. Peel and dice the black pudding, and add it as well. Bring everything to a boil for another 5-10 minutes, add the stock, and season with salt, sugar, and vinegar.
