Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes, floury
  • salt and pepper
  • 50 g cheese (Gruyère)
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 400 ml milk
  • Butter, for the mold and for topping
  • Garlic, for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Preheat the oven to 200°C. Rub a wide gratin dish with garlic and grease with butter. Wash and peel the potatoes and slice them thinly. Season in a bowl with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Grate the cheese. Whisk the egg and milk together and mix with the potatoes. The potatoes should not stick together. Place the potatoes in the dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle with cheese and dot with butter. Bake in the center of the oven (180°C fan oven) for 40-50 minutes until golden brown.
