Gratinated Maultaschen

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g onion(s)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 bunch parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 bunch marjoram, fresh, finely chopped
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg
  • 16 Maultasche(s) from the refrigerated section
  • salt water
  • 125 g Emmental cheese, grated
  • 1 bunch of chives

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Peel the onions and slice into rings. Preheat the oven to 220°C (top/bottom heat, fan oven: 200°C). Heat the butter and oil together and fry the onion rings for about 5 minutes until golden brown. Stir in the parsley and marjoram, and season the onions with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Cook the Maultaschen in salted water for about 5 minutes. Place half of the herb and onion mixture into an ovenproof dish or divide it between 4 dishes. Place the Maultaschen on top and cover with the rest of the mixture. Sprinkle with cheese and bake for about 10 minutes. Rinse the chives, shake dry, and cut into rolls. Sprinkle the Maultaschen with this mixture and serve. Serve with salad.
