Gratinated Potatoes

The perfect gratinated potatoes recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 2 kg Potatoes
  • 2 a cup Cream
  • 500 ml Milk
  • 3 Garlic cloves chopped
  • Sea-Salt
  • Pepper from the grinder
  • Freshly grated nutmeg

Aside from that:

  • Fat for the baking dish

Preparation:

  1. Grease a very large baking dish or deep baking sheet well. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C.
  2. Bring the milk and cream briefly to the boil together with the chopped garlic and spices.
  3. Peel, wash and slice the potatoes. Then layer in the greased form.
  4. Pour the hot milk and cream mixture over the potatoes and cover with aluminum foil.
  5. Let it cook in the oven for 30 minutes, then remove the aluminum foil and let it brown in the oven for another 15 minutes (I didn’t use aluminum foil on the first attempt, the potatoes were very well browned – almost burnt).
  6. Tip 6: If you like, you can add some grated cheese to the potatoes for the last 15 minutes, but it tastes also without).
