Gratinated strawberries

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 200 g quark
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 50 g butter, melted
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp, leveled cornstarch
  • 1 orange(s), organic, untreated
  • 500 g strawberries
  • some salt

Instructions

Whisk the quark, egg yolks, melted butter, vanilla sugar, 2 tablespoons of sugar, cornstarch, and grated orange zest until creamy. Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into the quark. Wash and halve the strawberries, and arrange them in a small baking dish. Spread the quark cream evenly over the strawberries using a tablespoon. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (convection not recommended) on the second rack from the top for 15-20 minutes. Serve once nicely browned.
