Great-Grandma's brown gingerbread

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 750 g flour
  • 250 g beet syrup
  • 250 g sugar
  • 250 g butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 0.15 g baking soda
  • ½ bag of gingerbread spice
  • e.g. powdered sugar, icing, sprinkles etc. for decoration

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 12 minutes; Total time approx. 3 hours 12 minutes

Mix the butter, eggs, and sugar with the syrup until smooth. Combine the flour, baking soda, and gingerbread spices and sift over the butter mixture. Knead the ingredients into a smooth dough; this is best done by hand. Wrap the dough in cling film and place in the refrigerator. Let it rest for two hours, then roll it out evenly, but not too thickly. Preheat the oven to 150°C. Cut out cookies as desired and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Increase the oven temperature to 180°C and bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, depending on their thickness. Afterward, you can decorate them nicely or dust them with powdered sugar. This mixture makes about 50 cookies.
