Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 1 ½ kg tomatoes, green (unripe)
- 500 g onion(s)
- 2 tbsp salt
- 125 g dates
- 350 ml vinegar (wine vinegar)
- 500 g sugar
- 1 tbsp flour
- 3 tbsp mustard
- ½ tbsp curry powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp ginger powder
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Chop the tomatoes and onions, sprinkle with salt, and let stand overnight. The next day, strain and squeeze out some of the liquid, then pour into a pot and add the chopped dates, vinegar, and sugar. Bring to a boil and simmer for 45 minutes. Mix the flour with a little water until smooth, add it to the jars along with the spices, and cook for another 10 minutes. Pour into jars, seal, and then leave the jars on the lid for 5 minutes. Makes about 6 standard jam jars. This chutney goes well with (almost) any dish: grilled food, fish fillets, sausage, or cheese. Absolutely delicious and eaten fast!
