Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 500 g peas (nasturtium peas), dried
- 1 bunch of soup vegetables
- 1,000 g smoked pork
- 500 g pork cheek(s) or streaky bacon
- 4 sausages
- some fat
Instructions
Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 25 minutes
Soak the peas for 12 hours. Ideally, overnight. Drain the water and bring the peas to a boil with fresh water and the soup vegetables. Simmer for approximately 3-5 hours, until the peas are tender. After 2 hours, add the smoked pork and pork cheek. Add the sausages 20 minutes before the end of cooking. Serve with boiled potatoes and prepare a bacon gravy: Finely dice the streaky bacon and onion, fry in fat, and let them crisp up slightly.
