Grill Tuna – That’s How it Works

In addition to meat, fish is also often put on the grill. Tuna is more of an exception, although grilling a tuna steak is not a big challenge.

Grilling tuna – that’s how it works

You don’t have to be a grill professional to make a tuna steak on the grill.

  1. The first thing you should do is marinate the tuna. Put the soy sauce, lemon juice, rosemary, chili powder, and olive oil in a sealable plastic bag and mix the ingredients well.
  2. Wash the fish well and dry with paper towels. Before adding it to the marinade, salt, and pepper the fish.
  3. The fish should marinate for about an hour. The best way to do this is to put it in the fridge.
  4. While the tuna is marinating, you can fire up the grill. Using a gas grill, preheat to 400 degrees over direct heat.
  5. Unlike other types of fish, tuna does not have to be on aluminum foil. You can put it directly on the hot grid and close the lid. It is important that you keep an eye on the fish. Tuna gets dry and tough pretty quickly.
  6. The cooking time depends on the thickness of the tuna steak. Usually, three to four minutes on each side is enough. Therefore, after a few minutes, check whether the fish already has grill marks on the underside.
  7. Then it’s the right time to turn the steak.
  8. Give the tuna the same amount of time on the grill on the other side should the fish be grilled to perfection.
  9. The tuna steak is done when the inside is still slightly raw, similar to a beef steak.
