Grilled chicken *Naxos*

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 500 g chicken breast fillet(s)
  • 300 g natural yogurt
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • ½ small onion(s)
  • 1 tsp, leveled salt
  • pepper
  • nutmeg
  • 3 tsp spice mix for gyros
  • 2 tsp honey
  • ½ bay leaf, chopped
  • 2 sprigs of oregano or thyme, about 3 cm long
  • 1 sprig(s) of rosemary, approx. 2 cm

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Chicken breast fillets marinated in gyros style

Wash the chicken breast fillets under cold water and pat dry with kitchen paper. Peel the onion and slice thinly. Cut the slices into rings. Peel the garlic and finely chop or press. Wash the oregano, pat dry, and roughly chop. If you like, you can also add a little fresh rosemary, but only a little, as it would otherwise be too strong. Mix all the marinade ingredients together. Trim the chicken breast fillets and make 2-3 slits in the thick part. Marinate the fillets overnight, preferably in a freezer bag. Grill on the charcoal grill for a total of 5-6 minutes. A rice and spinach casserole (such as the one made by CK user Crazy_Melly) is a good side dish.
