Grind flaxseed in a blender: instructions

A blender is a universal device that you can use to blend anything. However, the device also allows you to grind the flaxseed with different coarseness.

  1. For example, put 300 g of flaxseed in the blender jug.
  2. Turn on the device. After a few seconds, coarse flaxseed meal is already forming.
  3. If you want to finely grind the flaxseed, operate the blender again.

How to grind the flaxseeds in a mortar

If you don’t have a food processor at home, you can also use a mortar.

  1. Place a few tablespoons of the flaxseed in a mortar and pestle. The less it contains, the easier it will be for you to grind the flaxseed.
  2. Now rub the flax seeds with the pestle. Do this in circular movements.
  3. As soon as the flaxseed has the desired consistency, you can continue using the meal.

Properly store ground flaxseeds

If you have ground flaxseed, you should store it properly. This will prevent the grist from going rancid or moldy.

  • Flaxseed can be stored at room temperature for up to a year.
  • Place the ground flaxseeds in an airtight container, such as a ziplock bag, jar, or box.
  • In contrast to flaxseed, ground flaxseed can be stored in a cool place, such as the refrigerator, for up to a maximum of seven days. It is therefore best to grind the flaxseed in small amounts that you use up immediately.
  • If the ground flaxseed tastes bitter or smells rancid, you should throw it away. Fresh flax seeds, on the other hand, taste nutty.

Use ground flaxseed when baking

Ground flaxseeds are healthy. If you eat vegan, you can also replace eggs with the grist when baking.

  • Add a few teaspoons of ground flaxseed to your smoothie or yogurt.
  • The ground flaxseed can also be used to replace eggs when baking. To do this, mix three tablespoons of warm water with one tablespoon of the ground flaxseed. Let it steep for five minutes. This can be used to replace about two to three eggs.
  • Leftover mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to three days.
