Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 6 stale bread rolls, cut into cubes or thin slices
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 medium-sized onion(s), finely chopped
  • Salt
  • 2 tbsp parsley, flat, finely chopped
  • 1 pinch(s) nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 125 g ham, raw or bacon, finely diced
  • salt water

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Soak the rolls in warm milk. Heat the butter and sauté the onions and parsley in it. Then mix the spices, ham, and eggs into the soaked rolls. Dip your hands in flour and form the mixture into medium-sized dumplings. Cook in boiling salted water for 20 minutes, then remove with a slotted spoon.
