  • 200 g butter
  • 160 g sugar
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 80 g hazelnuts, ground
  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 20 g chocolate shavings
  • 1 pack of vanilla flavor
  • possibly nuts, chopped, some egg yolk and milk

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Christmas cookies

Makes 42 cookies, 2 baking sheets. Melt the butter, let it cool slightly, and beat it with the sugar, vanilla sugar, vanilla flavoring (can be liquid or ground), and salt with a mixer until fluffy. Combine the flour with the baking powder, hazelnuts, and chocolate shavings and add to the butter mixture. Knead everything into a smooth dough. Divide the dough into 42 pieces and shape each into an oval “bun.” Place the buns on a baking sheet, leaving some space between them, and cut a small slit lengthwise with a sharp knife. Be careful not to cut too deeply, otherwise they may spread too far during baking. Bake in the oven at 150°C (convection oven) for 10-15 minutes. Tip: If you like, you can also sprinkle some chopped nuts on the buns. To do this, brush the buns with a mixture of one egg yolk and a little milk (2 tablespoons).
