Heddu's meatballs in tomato sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g minced meat, half and half
  • 750 g tomato pieces, fresh or tetra pack
  • 1 red bell pepper(s)
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 2 rolls, stale
  • 3 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp Italian herbs, dried
  • 400 g cream
  • 3 balls of mozzarella
  • 2 tbsp margarine

Instructions

Soak the rolls in water. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Place the minced meat in a large bowl, squeeze in the rolls, and add them. Finely chop 2 onions and add them, along with the mustard, eggs, salt, pepper, and 1 garlic clove. Mix everything thoroughly. Grease a baking dish with 1 tablespoon of margarine. Form the minced meat into golf-ball-sized balls and place them in the bowl. Wash and trim the bell peppers and cut into small strips. Finely chop the onion and garlic and fry them in a pan. Add the bell peppers and brown for 10 minutes. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, salt, pepper, Italian herbs, and the cream in which 2 teaspoons of cornstarch have been dissolved. Mix well and season to taste. Pour everything over the meatballs. Place the sliced ​​mozzarella on top. Bake on the middle rack for 30-40 minutes. Serve with pasta, rice, or baguette and cucumber salad.
