makes 20 cookies

Sift flour, quickly knead with sugar, vanilla sugar, egg, and butter (in pieces) to form a smooth dough. Shape the dough into a ball, wrap in foil, and refrigerate. Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan-assisted oven). Roll out the dough to about 5 mm thick. Using a 5 cm diameter scalloped cutter, cut out cookies, making a small hole in the center of half of them. Place cookies on baking sheets lined with baking paper and bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown. Heat the jelly, spread it over the whole cookies, and place the perforated cookies on top. Dust with powdered sugar.
