Homemade fried onions

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 onions
  • 2 tbsp flour, maybe more
  • lots of butter, enough so that the onions can float

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

easily last 4 weeks

Peel the onions, halve them, and slice them thinly. Coat them well in flour and fry them in melted butter (not too hot). Don’t use too little butter, or they’ll just turn black. Don’t just stir the fried onions with a wooden spoon; instead, toss them with two forks. Drain the fried onions on a kitchen towel and let them cool. They can be left to stand until the next day to dry thoroughly. Then transfer them to a container and store in a dry place, or only make as much as you need for a dish. Since it’s homemade, I wouldn’t keep them for too long and would use them up quickly. Fried onions can be sprinkled over salads, soups, mashed potatoes, burgers, hot dogs, and much more.
