Hong Kong milk tea à la Kaitlin

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1.4 liters of water, very hot
  • 10 tbsp tea, a blend of Orange Pekoe, Lipton Black Tea and Earl Grey
  • 315 ml condensed milk
  • 2 tbsp condensed milk, sweetened or to taste

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Note: One tea bag contains approximately 1 tablespoon. 10 tablespoons of tea = 10 tea bags. Place the very hot water in a saucepan, add the tea, and quickly bring to a boil. Adjust the stovetop temperature so that the tea simmers gently for 15 minutes. Then strain the infusion through a fine-mesh sieve lined with a pair of new pantyhose and tied tightly. Pour the hot tea into four cups or mugs. Divide the unsweetened condensed milk evenly between the cups. Stir in 1 to 2 teaspoons of sweetened condensed milk, depending on your taste. Serve while still hot. For a single serving, fill a coffee mug three-quarters full with boiling water, add one tea bag each of Orange Pekoe, Lipton’s Black Tea, and Earl Grey, cover, and let steep for 5 minutes. Discard the tea bags. Finish with approximately 80 ml of condensed milk and 1 to 2 teaspoons of sweetened condensed milk.
